If you guys have been keeping up, which I hope you so dearly have been! 🙂 This is my first fashion post!
Now as some background for you, I’ve been into men’s fashion since I made my way into high school. As odd and old as this sounds, I remember I was one of the first kids at my high school to be rocking Ed Hardy! Yes I said it, Ed freaking Hardy. Ya know, the shirts and pants and accessories with the obnoxious looking tattoo-inspired skulls and animal prints. Don’t forget the bright gold and silver accents and the chains.
While that might not have been the best fashion statement back then, I promise you I was still trying to keep myself in the loop. If you have been to high school (which I’m assuming you have) you and much like myself probably went through a few “phases” of styles. And that doesn’t just mean looks, I mean likes and dislikes and your personality as well. You know what I mean. Thankfully, I never turned to all black and piercings on random parts of my body.
Judging from pics above and below, you’ll see that my trend this summer is 100% going to be easy, breezy, covergirl…..JUST KIDDING! The style I’m going for is relaxed and comfy, breathable shirt of button down with LOTS of florals and patterns tag teamed with skinny jeans and a pair of Chelsea boots or driving loafers.
Now maybe I’m a bit crazy or just don’t get the whole “New York” vibe of things but something you will never see me in, is a pair of jeans with sneakers.
I. Just. Said. It.
I’m not sure why that is such a common look up here in the big apple. If you didn’t know, I’m from sunny south Florida and nobody wears jeans and sneakers. Up here, if you don’t do it, you can pretty much kiss your coolness factor away. Guys and gals are even wearing sneakers with full on sports jackets and suits.
I don’t care, it’s not a look or trend that I will be rocking and I promise I’ll still be the best dressed in the room. By FAR.
Great thing for a swell guy like myself during the summer time in button downs is this. I can just un-button one more til I feel cool again. Literally, it makes life for me so easy. Not to mention I can show off my rocking six-pack even more during this beach bod season.
This ending to the month of May marks the closing of my first full year here in New York and I couldn’t be any happier with my move here. I’ve definitely changed as a person and grew as an individual.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s a TON I really hate about New York, most of it being with transit and commuting but all things are worth it in the end and it all helps that I get to be doing what I love, dressing up, hosting events, and enjoying myself all while having people enjoy themselves in my company!
On that note,
“10/10 would recommend, Yancy…… OUT!”
