I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Michael Davidson, the owner and founder of Black Infusions, at a time when his product was in its early stages.
Just finished bottling and not yet into any substantial bars or restaurants.
Now it’s the total opposite of that day when we met. He’s in over 100+ in Massachusetts, Vegas, and NYC.
Let’s get to his liquor and find out why;

We are a small producer and our goal has remained the same from day one. We value quality over everything else, and it’s important to us that we keep the process simple and natural.
Our artisanal spirits are handcrafted in small batches and we achieve the authentic colors and tastes from a single source of flavor: dried fruit. It’s how spirits used to be – and should be – made and enjoyed.
This is how Black Infusions came to be. The first, the bread winner, the original.
Fig is not a usual fruit I’m particularly familiar with nor would I be frequenting to have some on a regular basis but this stuff is pretty damn good.
Michael uses only the freshest California figs in his “infusion” process to create this amazing spirit.
Black Fig has won multiple awards in spirit competitions including DOUBLE-GOLD by 43 different panel members in the 2017 San Francisco World Spirit Competition.
That doesn’t just happen for no reason.

After hammering out numerous awards, Michael and his crew thought to use other dried fruits for another spirit. In this case, apricot turned out to be a fantastic choice.
The distillery used sits next to one of the freshest water sources in the world on the Deschutes River of Bend, Oregon.
Both of Black Infusions spirits start with a gluten–free corn base. With this, they’re filtered through charcoal first, THEN lava rock which gives this spirit its smooth finish. The lava rock process is really where the smoothness gets to shine because of the water held within the rocks throughout the entire process.
Soon after, each spirit is naturally infused for four to six weeks with either the figs or apricots.
And that’s all folks! No big production and of course, nothing fake.
I’ll start by saying, this spirit really deserves itself to be indulged on it’s own, shaken long in a martini. Both are especially great for sipping as well.
However, I’ve got a few that I think you’ll enjoy.
Without further ado,
Very smooth twist on the classic Manhattan featuring fig infused vodka.
In mixing glass, add all ingredients over ice.
Fine strain into martini glass.
Garnish with fresh fig and mint.
Wonderfully colored cocktail featuring apricot with notes of peach.
In mixing tin, add all ingredients over ice.
Fine strain into martini glass.
Garnish with lime wedge and sugar rim.
Do yourself a favor and pick yourself up a bottle (or two) of this fine spirit when you have the chance! The incredibly unique flavor and smoothness will keep you asking for more!
Huge props and accolades to the owner and CEO Michael Davidson. He is one hard working man who really puts myself and others to shame. His drive and work ethic is really one to be applauded and many can take some advice from this gentlemen.
I could not have been blessed to have met this guy cause he makes me want to work harder than I already think I do and he’s got a wife and kids!
